Professor Rodgers' Framework for Understanding Writing as an Act and Medium of Communication [Introduction] [About Rhetorics]

www.digitalcomposition.org

Engaging with, rather than eschewing the multidimensionality of writing as a practice and a subject, this Framework for Understanding Writing as an Act and Medium of Communication invites readers to engage and explore the paradoxical fact that writing is, from the perspective of the basic elements that define it, fairly simple, and from the perspective of its use, endlessly complex. Working with this framework and thinking about it in relation to one's own writing projects, it may then be possible to develop a shared language for describing and thinking about the many different things that writing is and can be.
